What was it like to be a daughter-in-law of Noah? What were his sons like? Apparently they were in right standing with God, enough anyway to avoid destruction. Or were they getting by on their father's merit?
Either way, imagine marrying into such a family! Everything is all hunky-dory, and all of a sudden your father-in-law, the only righteous man on earth, a non-conformist, all of a sudden starts building this huge thing called an ark and tells his family that God is going to destroy the whole earth.
What is a girl to think? What mad her her follow? Was it the faith of Noah that rang true in her spirit? Maybe she didn’t have anywhere else to go, or maybe she had begun to have her own faith in her father-in-law’s God.
Whatever Noah’s wife and daughters-in-law were like, the Bible does not say. It simply says that they entered the ark. Think of what that means—leaving home, country, family, friends, a whole way of life. Yet they entered, looking ahead, not behind.
What “ark” is my heavenly Father asking me to enter? Is my faith lacking, or am I willing to follow His leading, no matter what the cost? Do the things of this world mean more to me than obeying the good and perfect will of my God? Is my faith alive and strong?
As the saying goes, “He who hesitates is last.” Faith does not hesitate. Faith is not stagnant, but belief in action. There are no excuses in Christianity—when God gives direction, He expects me to follow without turning back. I must simply “enter the ark” with the simple obedience of a daughter of Noah.
