Joel and I went to a performance by the Northwestern College Orchestra last Tuesday. The stellar performance of Sullivan's Masquerade Suite from the Merchant of Venice and Bizet's Carmen Suite didn't quite keep the attention of a notorious Jonathan Hall, age 8-ish [who's sister was playing principal violin]. He parked himself next to Joel and started drawing on his, and everyone else', programs. Doodles turned into subliminal messages, and Joel, being the facetious guy that he is, humoured Jonathan and started writing back. And so it went, all the way through the final applause. Things took an interesting turn when they started talking about me. Apparently Jonathan either has low appreciation of me, or he just likes to get a rise out of adults in general. I'm guessing it's the latter.
